Mohair
An angora goat produces mohair. Right off the goat it is very greasy. Unlike sheep wool, hot water will not get the grease out. You must bring the water to a simmer. Add a good degreaser detergent such as liquid Purex detergent. Soak the mohair until the water starts to cool. Take the mohair out, and refill the pot with simmering water and detergent. Place the mohair back in the water. Soak and repeat until the water is clear. When dry it is ready for wig making. Note: donīt swish the mohair. It does not felt as quickly as wool, but it will tangle. My angora goatīs name is Wynken, and he produces about 25 lbs of mohair a year.
